Connecting Children and Families to Nature

In 2010 a church committee was formed to nurture a stronger connection between members of UPC congregation, UPC Discovery families, and our UPC children and youth with God’s natural world. The Nature Connections Committee believes that connecting to nature helps us live healthier, happier and more spiritual lives.

Nature Connections has worked since then to create a community where people can learn about and enjoy nature together and to utilize all natural areas of our campus and especially the Certified Nature Explore Classroom. Here are a few of the ways that UPC Discovery families support the work of Nature Connections so their children have this wonderful and rare preschool experience with nature.

  • Spring and Fall Work Days help us maintain the natural beauty of our campus.
  • Helping to create and maintain hands on experiences for both our UPC Discovery and our congregation’s kids
  • Maintaining our Little Nature Library, our campus gardens, and our playground.
